Jewelry FAQ

Age Requierments

We do not pierce any individuals under the age of 8. We also request that clients do not bring anyone under the age of 16 to accompany them to appointments. Please also be aware we will perform no more than 2 piercings on a minor (8-17 years) at one time. 8+: Earlobes 18+: Microdermals & All Piercings from the waist up 14+: Nose 16+: Tongue Individuals aged 8-17 years must be accompanied by their legal parent and/or legal guardian. Both the individual being pierced and their guardian must bring recordable valid identification to the appointment. Extended family and/or close friends cannot act as legal guardians for appointments, regardless of age, connection, or whether or not they live in the household. If you attended an appointment without a legal guardian present you will be unable to be pierced and may be charged the full price of the piercing appointment as a ‘no show’. ** If you are the legal guardian through adoption, or have been appointed custody of the minor in question we will require proof of guardianship.

ID Requirements

All individuals being pierced must have physical government-issued proof of identification at their appointment. Individuals aged 8-17 years must be accompanied by their legal parent and/or legal guardian. Both the individual being pierced and their guardian must bring recordable valid identification to the appointment. No piercings will be performed without an acceptable form of ID. If you attend an appointment without proper identification and are unable to be pierced you may be charged the full price of the piercing and be considered a ‘no show’.

How much does it cost?

There are two main costs associated with the piercing, the procedure cost and the price of jewelry you choose to have put in. Basic jewelry cost is included in the booking price, and many jewelry upgrades are available for initial piercing at an extra cost. We will only pierce with jewelry purchased from our studio. For the fresh piercing we install a longer labret or barbell to allow room for swelling and initial healing, on average clients will be able to downsize around 4-6 weeks after the initial piercing.

I am pregnant, can I be pierced?

We do not pierce anyone who is pregnant. Because your system is under tremendous stress during this period it leaves you and your baby susceptible to increased risks of infection, allergic reaction and/or rejection. On a brighter note, if you already have a piercing that is healed and comfortable there is rarely a medical reason to take out your jewellery.

Do you pierce babies?

No, we do not pierce infants and toddlers. While we respect that many cultures have a tradition of infant ear piercing, we have chosen to honor the rights of the individual over those of society. We prefer to not perform any piercing on anyone who cannot engage in some sort of conversation about the risks and benefits, for the reason we have chosen to only offer piercing for youth aged 8 and above. We also ask that clients refrain from bringing guests below the age of 16 into the studio with them unless they are receiving a service.

Do I have to purchase jewelry - can I be pierced with my own jewelry?

For health and safety, as well as insurance purposes, we will only pierce with jewelry purchased from Vanity. We will never pierce with jewelry that has been inside anyone previously, which is why all of our jewelry is final sale.

I do not see the piercing I am interested in, do you perform it?

If you have a specialty or rare piercing in mind we recommend you book in for a consultation with our piercers or message to discuss possible options available. Please be advised that we do not perform the following piercings regardless of consultation: ~ Genital piercings ~ Horizontal tongue - sometimes referred to as snake eyes ~ Dermal on arms, legs, hands and feet

Late Policy

Your appointment is your one on one time with your piercer. We have scheduled our piercing appointments to have time for jewelry browsing, aftercare explanation, time to align and match piercings, and to pierce you comfortably and confidently. In short, we don’t like to rush, and pride ourselves on our level of service and care. Please understand that if you are 7-10 minutes late to your piercing appointment we no longer can guarantee we will be able to pierce you and you may be charged as a ‘no show’.

Cancel Policy

We ask that you please reschedule or cancel at least 12 hours before the beginning of your appointment. We require 12 hours notice for cancellation or rescheduling of appointments. If 12 hours notice is not given, you will be charged full price for the service that was booked. You may also be asked for a deposit to book in the future.

No-Show Policy

Missed appointments (no-show) will result in full charge of services booked. Invoices of service charge must be paid to book future appointments. Future appointments will be canceled otherwise.

What forms of payment do you accept

We accept Cash, E-Trasnfer, Debit & Credit.

Is there parking available?

Out front there is 2 hour free street parking. Across the road is a large parking lot with paid parking.

Does it hurt?

There is almost always going to be some discomfort or pain associated with having a piercing done. Each of us has a different tolerance and response to pain, a lot of which can be determined by our attitude. Even if you can’t shake the pre-piercing jitters, the quick pinch/pressure of a piercing is over almost immediately. By the time you see how awesome your new jewelry looks, you’ll forget all about the pain.

Do you pierce with a gun?

We do not pierce with guns or have them in the studio. We only pierce with hollow single use sterile needles designed for piercing.

What's the best aftercare for me piercing?

Please check out our aftercare page for more information!

Do you take returns or exchanges?

We do not. Because we sell body jewelry, which comes I contact with clients bodies and sometimes bodily fluid, it is not safe for us to sell jewelry anyone else has contact with. There for, all sales are final and no returns and exchanges are accepted.

I don’t know what size I need to order/what size I wear!

If you are unsure of sizing, please feel free to contact us via email or messenger and we can help you with sizing. That said, sizing is best done in person; we do offer free one-on-one jewelry consultations to help find the right piece for you and your budget. Remember all sales are final, and not returns or exchanges are accepted. Even if the piece does not fit correctly. Please be sure you know your size before you order!

How does the jewelry work?

We carry a few different styles, so we’ve broken it down for you here! Threadless or Press Fit- Threadless jewelry works by pulling apart and pushing together. The small pin on the back of the front has a slight bend in it (all of our pins come pre-bent) and that creates tension when locked in the post. We sell both fronts and posts, seperatly. Please note you will need both pieces for a complete earring. Threadless ends are universal- they have no size listed as they work with any threadless post! Threaded- Threaded jewelry worked by screwing together. Lefty loosey, righty tighty. Wearing gloves helps a lot for threading these together. We sell both fronts, posts, and backings (beads or discs), separately. Please note you will need all 3 pieces for a complete earring. Clickers- Clickers have a small hinge that clicks open and closed. These should never be opened with tools, just your hands. Wearing gloves can help give the leverage needed to click the hinge open and closed. Seam Rings- Seam rings twist apart to open and close. These can be tricky to install yourself, as it is essential that both sides of the seam align perfectly.
